The Waiting Game
So the story it this. You’re out with this girl on a date. The usual stuff, day at the mall, eat, catch a movie, walk around aimlessly and talk about almost anything and yet not run out of things to say.
Eventually one of you has to go to the toilet. Its only natural to do so. And so you find for that little signboard that shows the male and female symbols. You walk, have small talk, and obviously go your separate ways when you reach the toilet itself. Usually what I’d do is to take the opportunity to have a quick glance at yourself. Fix your hair, check teeth for any food leftovers(and cringe if there were any), tell yourself to calm down(if you’re nervous), take an awesome pee and basically that’s it. Of course you have to make the session quick, not good to make a lady wait.
But the girl always takes longer anyway. And there you are outside waiting for her. Some guys are in the same situation. Staring at the floor, silently acknowledging each other’s presence and understanding what they are going through.
One by one the guys leave with their dates, till your own comes out.
And that moment has a weird effect to me. Knowing that she could be spending her time elsewhere doing something else, with someone else, and yet she chose to be with me anyway.
No matter how often it happens, it still strikes me every time.
The weird toilet entrance incident. Maybe you should take notice sometime.

All that I’m not proud of I lay at the foot of the cross.
Never again will I surround myself with shame and defeat.

Worship Blues
Sometimes I wonder how some church members can just stand there while a great worship song is being played. I’d think, doesn’t the lyrics move you and make you want to sing from the bottom of your heart? Giving your best and really losing yourself in the moment of true worship. The deep hunger for fellowship with Him and being humbled in his presence.
I thought today I finally learned why some people can be “unaffected”, as they seemed.
Its not because they dont value worship enough or because its unimportant to them, its because they’ve been step by step with God everyday of the week. Saturday or Sunday was just another day in His presence. Its not that their hunger or thirst has waivered, its because they’ve been enjoying His presence everyday.
We who stray from God long for and need a once a week sing out loud session. Something to fill the empty void in our hearts left by a meaningless week without conversation with Christ.
They dont raise their hands, simply because they’ve been alive in Christ every step of the day. Nothing to prove, God knows their hearts.
Worship is not judged by how loud we sing and how much tears is being shed. Worship is a lifestyle. Worship is constant.
I’ve learned my lesson.
That being said, I’ve lifted my hands today and never felt better while worshipping together as a congragation. Its just that starting from now I need to examine myself every week before I come to church. Is my praise empty and temporal? Or God pleasing, and always constant.

I don’t mind fighting hard for something I want. It’s just finding out what’s worth fighting for that bugs me.
